Who is thedoctorjb?

Hi, I’m Jessica, a Family Medicine resident physician. Just a country girl from rural Louisiana, I ended up in Georgia by way of medical school at Georgia Campus – Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Before my medical training, I received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Xavier University of Louisiana, then graduated from Drexel University with a Master of Science.
From my first day of medical school, up until this point, my journey has been amazing in every sense of the word. There have been tumultuous seasons when I felt like giving up and wondered if I had made a mistake by choosing a career in medicine. Then there were times when I was reminded that there is nothing else I would rather do with my life.
This blog is a vehicle to take you with me on my journey through life as a young, Black, female doctor. I have been encouraged and motivated by the stories and testimonies of many great physicians, and I want to do the same for you. It is my hope that you will be enlightened, informed, possibly humored, but mostly inspired.
Thank you for stopping by!
